Partner (of UK Citizen/Settled Person) Visa

Officially part of the Appendix FM Routes.

Partner of UK citizen or person with settled status may be eligible to live with their family in the UK.  Settled status includes Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and EU Settlement Scheme Settled Status (though in that case the family of the EU national should consider the EU Settlement Scheme instead).

The definition of partner includes married spouses, civil partners, and unmarried partners who have lived together for two years. In addition, the couple must have met at least once in person, and must intend to live together in the UK.

There is a financial requirement on the UK citizen/settled person. The calculation process is complicated and there are rules regarding how different forms of income counts towards this requirement.

The Partner Visa is subject to the genuine and subsisting relationship requirement. In recent years a lot of attention has been paid to sham marriages, which are paper marriages made purely for immigration purposes.

For partner dependent of a general visa migrant, please refer to the Partner Dependent (of Visa Migrant) Visa page.
