Partner (of UK Citizen/Settled Person) Settlement

Officially part of the Appendix FM Routes.

For a partner of a UK citizen/settled person, the residency period previously required was only 2 years. This has now been changed to 5 years of residency.

During the 5 years residency period, there should not have been periods of significant absence from the UK. Also, the relationship between the applicant and the UK citizen/settled person should still be genuine and subsisting at the time of the settlement application.

For partner dependent of a general visa migrant, please refer to the Partner Dependent (of Visa Migrant) Settlement page.
