Innovator Visa

Officially part of the Appendix Innovator Route. Replaces the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) Visa.


The Innovator Visa may represent a suitable option for applicants wishing to setup a business in the UK. Like the Start-up Visa, the Innovator Visa requires that the business be endorsed by a valid business organisation (but NOT by a higher education institution). 


The applicant should have access to £50,000 worth of funds ready to be invested into the business. If the business is already running, then the applicant can also rely on funds previously invested. Further, if the business is already running, the business must be active, trading and sustainable, and the applicant must be active in the day-to-day management and development of the business.

You will be initially allowed to stay for 3 years on the Innovator Visa. Then you may apply for extension or settlement if you become eligible.

Yes. You may become eligible for settlement after as soon as 3 years of residency in the UK. Eligibility will depend upon, amongst other factors, the performacne of your business.

The UK government fees for the Innovator Visa are: £1277 if you apply outside the UK, and £1021 if you apply in the UK.

You might also need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) and the Biometric Enrolment Fee.
