Extension of Same Visa Category

To apply for extension, the applicant will need to continue meeting the visa conditions at the time of the extension application. Not all visa categories allow for extension.

It is possible to extend your visa, even though your visa category might no longer "exists". The UK immigration system has changed significantly in the past few years, with the result that many old routes have been closed or replaced. However, extending under those old routes is till very much possible. Some examples include the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa, the Turkish Businessperson Visa, and many others.

For most applicants, it might be worthwhile to apply for Settlement as soon as hat option becomes available, instead of applying for another extension. However, there are many reasons why one might not yet be eligible for Settlement, including not meeting key Settlement eligiblily requirements. Please refer to our Settlement page for more information.
