Direct Airside Transit Visa

Officially part of the The Immigration (Passenger Transit Visa) Order 2014 (As Amended).

In contrast to some countries, where foreign nationals who make a transit at an airport without entering the country's borders are not required to apply for permission in advance, UK regulations do make such permission mandatory for certain nationals.

Fortunately, the application fee is low. It is still nevertheless an important step to complete prior to travel.

It is important to note that the Direct Airside Transit Visa is not a traditional visa, as it does not give the holder permission to actually cross the UK border. It simply allows the holder to transit between two international flights at a UK airport.
